Two incidents happened in 2014 in the US. Two police officers were killed in both. A third civilian victim was killed in both. In both incidents, the perpetrators cited anti-government political reasons. One was committed by a white couple sporting Nazi insignia, the other by a black Muslim man. The incident perpetrated by the black Muslim man was covered four-and-a-half times more in newspaper articles.

Shankar Vedantam of NPR digs into the facts around terrorist violence and how they are misrepresented in the media.
