Gingrich won SC with a solid margin. He may be close negating Romney's early momentum. Only advantage Romney has his vast network in all states. His money advantage could soon be matched by Newt's supporters.

Newt is also generating the old south dixiecrat base with his not so hidden racial code words.

This is not good for Repubs. It is not good for the nation.

Santorum's presence may hinder Newt's efforts to collate not romney candidate votes.

Florida with its size will assume bigger significance. Northern settlers may play a significant role.

In any case, newt will lose in the final match - Anyone with a past - a controversial past - from way past is sure to face trouble way into the future. He has too much of a controversial figure - just too much.

The moderator screwed up and instead of pushing Newt in to the grave he himself fell into it.

Newt is not likely to win against romney but he is angry enough to drag romney through mud. That may give Obama few openings. I still feel Obama's main enemy is the economy and perception of people that it is finally moving in the right direction. He is fighting against Repub congress also. World events may also have a say in the election.

if newt is the nominee, the democratic base will be really fired up in november. also, newt is sure to have a gender problem. those two facts alone will propel obama to a second term.

I agree with every word of that article. Except the bit about the Tigers and the Saints. I don't much care for those teams. But that apart, I couldn't have wished for a better week in this campaign season. I would love for this campaign to go to all 50 states, and Romney and Gingrich go at each other more and more viciously. At some point Santorum's going to run out of money and throw in his lot with Gingrich. If that happens, neither Romney nor Gingrich will have a majority of elected delegates, and Ron Paul will become kingmaker. I don't remember how the superdelegates thing works in the GOP... have to look that up now. I do expect most of them would be inclined to break for Romney at the convention.
