To the proud Texan
Your state seems ready to mooch off federal government tit in the aftermath of Harvey after railing against taxes forever. May want to rethink that no state income taxes thing so the degree of mooching can be reduced a touch.

Irony - someone from a state dubbed Taxachusetts advocating for more tax in another state!

Not even in the top 10. The name doesn't fit any more.

Changing the goal post now after talking about income taxes, Il Professore? And even by that ranking you are already at #12. You should talk to all those poor souls who live in the Granite State and work across the border in Taxachussets.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Liar liar, pants on fire!MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Irony - someone from a state dubbed Taxachusetts advocating for more tax in another state!

And in your own link
What Are Tax Burdens?
A state’s tax burden is the portion of total state income that goes to state and local taxes. And
State-local tax burdens are very close to one another and slight changes in taxes or income can translate to seemingly dramatic shifts in rank.

Re: To the proud Texan
Your list was total tax income collected per capita. Obviously that's a function of both the tax rate and the per capita income of the state. It's no surprise that the top four states on the list NY, CT, MD, and MA are some the of the wealthiest in the nation.
Here are the rates:

Re: To the proud Texan
And you're conveniently forgetting the flat income tax rate that Taxachussets charges. And if you take the total tax for every $1000, Texas is actually pretty close to Taxachussets so stop acting holier-than-thou.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Your list was total tax income collected per capita. Re: To the proud Texan
property taxes are high in texas as a % because price/sq ft is so low compared to rest of nation. for example, I bought my first home 17 yrs ago for $67/sq ft. now houses are in $120-220 range for high end, not the shitboxes they have in rest of the country in that that price range.
duh.
texans maybe annoying and stubborn as mules but parts of the state are great places to live and raise a family. except for the arabs in their full tent with eye slits garb that seem to be flooding the area now. could have long range consequences..

Making snide remarks at a time of monumental calamity - very classy! Only an illiberal is capable of this.

Re: To the proud Texan
That's only applicable to the bay area. Houses in NJ or DC and other areas are as good or better than the ones build in Dallas. Homeowners in Dallas pay the same amount of property as the homeowner in NOVA for the house that priced half; I'm sure a $500k house in Dallas is not as big or as good as a million dollar house in NOVA.Propagandhi711 wrote:property taxes are high in texas as a % because price/sq ft is so low compared to rest of nation. for example, I bought my first home 17 yrs ago for $67/sq ft. now houses are in $120-220 range for high end, not the shitboxes they have in rest of the country in that that price range.
