Floridian Absurdity
There's nobody who catches Floridian absurdity and packs it into a few hundred pages time and again like Carl Hiaasen, one of my favorite American writers. His latest book is Razor Girl which is a hoot and a half:

He also once said Donald Trump's hair is assembled out of the underarms of orangutans. LOL!

Is your title an indicator of your glee at Irma hitting Florida, Il Professore?

Glee, what glee? According to the guys who wear the same political stripes as you over on Breitbart, it's a "dud!"

Oh the same glee that the little boy you are, likes to display from time to time whenever a natural disaster strikes a red state.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Is your title an indicator of your glee at Irma hitting Florida, Il Professore?

Hahaha!! You can't make this shit up. There's a danger in satirizing the red state fools. Often they do something even more absurd than what you imagined in your satire.

Duh! Il Professore, in your little boy glee, you didn't get it I guess:
Well guys, it's here. The moment we've been waiting for. It was cool to see the response this got from facebook. On another note, I've learned that about 50% of the world could not understand sarcasm to save their lives. Carry on.
EDIT: Sorry if your posts aren't coming through, there's so many that I can no longer open the page to look at posts to approve without getting an error message. Gonna try to resolve the issue. I would leave it open to where all posts go through, but I've seen some posts that would definitely start shit, and I'm not trying to have this turn into a shouting match on FB. I've made headlines with this event apparently, but that's thanks to every last one of you awesome people here with me.
Btw, one more thing, make sure to help each other out during and after the storm in whatever way you can. While the news will make countless stories about us "encouraging" people to shoot the hurricane, there will be far less coverage on how Floridians always have each others backs in times of need.
So, check on your neighbors, help out, see if any of your local shelters need help. I shouldn't have to say any of this, but I'm saying it anyway. Stay strong, Florida.
And a big fuck off to you, Hurricane Irma.

Beach renourishment -- yeah it's a thing in FL and other places that are losing their beaches to the ravages of sea level rise. Check it out.

I don't know what else we can expect from an illiberal, but we can know what's expected from a moronic president and the party he leads - slashing funding to FEMA and to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the scientific agency that does research on weather and the climate, and one of whose many responsibilities is to fly planes into hurricanes well before they arrive on US territory and measure wind speed and other parameters used in forecasting the path of hurricanes.

Looking forward to some of your glee this winter, if a really powerful nor'easter hits MA, Il Professore.

Unfortunately cutting funding to FEMA and the NOAA is bad in any kind of weather disaster blue state or red state. It's not glee, it's frustration, in case it's not clear.

Oh! As soon as the possibility of a natural disaster striking your home state is brought up, Il Professore, your glee turns to frustration. Understood.MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Hellsangel wrote:Looking forward to some of your glee this winter, if a really powerful nor'easter hits MA, Il Professore.

Re: Floridian Absurdity
Look, I am not claiming that these recent ferocious hurricanes are a direct result of climate change, maybe they are and maybe they aren't. However, beach erosion and ocean level rise are certainly a result of climate change, and when a hurricane hits, eroding beaches and loss of natural barriers magnify the effects of hurricanes. And for not taking action, Rick Scott must be held responsible.
