"Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a huge mandate with people expecting that he had the ability and understand to develop an Indian vision. But today the expectation lay shattered. A condescending tone had become the bedrock of the government's arrogance. Business thrived on trust but the trust in this government was dead. The Prime Minister and the government believed every single person was a thief,” Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said in New Delhi on Thursday.

Addressing the annual general meeting of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said, “On November 8, we will mark the death anniversary of old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes. The Prime Minister didn't understand all cash is not black and all black is not cash. He used his vast powers to unleash ‘terror’ on citizens. Many people died running from pillar to post and millions lost livelihood. To do all this, you need a very big chest but a very small heart. GST is Gabbar Singh Tax and it has brought a tsunami of tax terrorism."

Mr. Gandhi said:

''It's like double tap killing that commandos use to kill terrorists. Quick short fire to kill. First the note ban and then GST. We are staring at a disaster — MMD (Modi Made Disaster). Today, the national discussion is only about growth. The Indian economy can be revived and the United Progressive Alliance brought out millions out of poverty. If we are not creating jobs, we are not solving the problem."

“We believe in giving equal access to the MSMEs sector like big businesses we trust you, we believe in you. It was a misunderstanding that powers are concentrated at 10 Janpath. But the concentration of power in the PMO is nowhere near like the present one. Ministers in this government like Sushma Swaraj ji don't have powers.”

To a query if the Congress would change GST if it comes to power, he said GST had to be reformed, changed and simplified.
