7 "Sins" according to Gandhi
Wealth Without Work
Pleasure Without Conscience
Knowledge Without Character
Commerce (Business) Without Morality (Ethics)
Science Without Humanity
Religion Without Sacrifice
Politics Without Principle
these got him into trouble with other "leaders" - like ambedkar, tilak, patel, nehru and such...but he remained uncompromising with no concessions.

if one gets wealth without work, e.g. inheritance and one manages it well (funds, rent, etc.), and doesn't squander it (bad habits, lifestyle, business schemes), then that's work.

if you worry about character, then you don't attain full knowledge, most times. Now how you use that knowledge, that requires a lot of character.

Semitic religions made pleasure a sin.t w wrote:if pleasure is your religion, then conscience is what you sacrifice, at times

Yeah. If humanity replaces dogma (religion), the world will be a better place. If humanity is linked to individuals seeking enlightenment and is periodically updated taking scientific discoveries into account, that will be even better.garam_kuta wrote:Science without humanity is what made me post it.

At that time, several Nobel laureates also wrote to the president not to develop nuclear weapons. Until India detonated the nuclear device, her stated policy is for global nuclear disarmament.garam_kuta wrote:Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:Yeah. My point in the last post was that humanism is the answer and that if it is updated based on new scientific discoveries, it becomes more rationally based and won't deteriorate into dogma.
