am soooo far removed from the age 16. but when i hear this one, it has to be all about XB

Let's see..

-I was in 11th grade when i turned 16.

-on my birthday XB had come to wish me on his bike with his bff when i was on my bicycle otw to bff's house otw to school . He had a HUGE gift box, which I refused to take. Just took the card and the rose I think. How was I to carry it to school and then to home. He went away super mad.

-bff's mom was waiting for me to feed me rasgullas on my sweet 16. His dad later commented to bff how I looked sad and nervous. + for perception

-whole year went crying

-kissed for the first time by the end of 11th grade. Whenever kids asked what age I first kissed, I used to be confused if I should say 16 or 20 (XH)... now they know about XB, but I think i have still kept the age part fuzzy so far.

-arranged to get his gift on 17th b'day. said friends collaborated to give that gift.

Let's see..
i) a simple cotton black and red salwar suit. It had a triangular cut in the bottom. Very 80s. I liked it but wore it only 2-3 times I think. I wasn't into salwar suits those days. When we broke up much later, i handed that to the sweeper in the village. Not sure if he ever saw her in that.
ii) a jhamak sindhi dress, think 80s movies heroines. With all kinds of frills and sequins and laces. but it fitted wonderfully and i loved its soft fabric. I wore it ONCE, only at home. Could never dare going out in that sizzle. But kept it for book-keeping. Not sure if it was preserved in last near-30 years in that room. Will search this visit to see if it's still there.
iii) a perfume sampler. Loved that. This one was tossed in by his brother though.
iv) a cassette with songs of his choice. I grew to those songs with time. Were more lyrics heavy than music heavy.

thinking back, i should have appreciated that gift much more at 16 when it was being given to me for the first time. He had put a lot of thought into it. Was sweet of him. Coincidentally, that was the first and last time any dude pampered me with a gift like that on my birthday. Must be karma or something.
