i had once purchased a collection of audio songs which was a tribute to Helen and featured several of her songs. Besides the songs, it also interspersed comments on Helen by eminent film personalities. One of them was Sunil Dutt. And i recall Dutt Saab saying that though she was a dancer, Helen was given the respect due to a prominent actress. People would come to see a movie if it had one or two Helen item numbers.
Then i came across this book:

while searching for Helen songs on youtube, i came across the one on Jewel Thief. I recall seeing Jewel Thief on Indian television but this song was not to be seen. Obviously it had been edited out because it was considered too hot to be shown on TV.
Then i came across this book:

that whole badkamma song is a unique song in that most of it, from what i read somewhere, is in telugu or telugu dialect mixed with a little hindi. Telugus are requested to confirm whether this is true, and to tell us what the song is about.

No i did not. Many of the new tamil songs are fantastic. I love them.
But the Mohammad Rafi, Hemant Kumar et al songs have their own charm.
