Place where best version of language is spoken
I have heard that best version in terms of diction, inflection, polish, style, etc. for the following languages are these areas. Agree? Keep adding to the list too.
Hindi ------------ Delhi
Telugu ---------- Krishna/Godavari
Urdu ------------ Lucknow
Bengali ---------- Calcutta
Marathi ---------- Pune
Kannada --------- Mysore
Oriya ------------ Puri
Punjabi ---------- Amritsar (really it's Lahore, but that's in Pak)
Tamil ------------ Madurai (or is it Ceylon?)
U.S. English ------ Midwest

C'mon, the Hindi spoken in Delhi is probably the worst. People mangle grammar every which way. Aap idhar aajao is a typical mangling.
I've no idea where Hindi is spoken best but I suspect it spoken better in Lucknow than in Delhi (although I've never been to Lucknow).
For Kannada, I'd rank Mangalorean Kannada as better because it is closer to written Kannada and spoken with a lilt as well.

Or even Allahabad. Lucknow is more Urdu.
