I ask my son...can I stay in your house once you are married and all...u know?

He is like..Yes, Mom sureeeee...........why not? You can stay in basement.

My friend's son is far worse...he wants to invent an invisible car for his mom to stay after he gets married.

I realize most would give a standard response "whoever they like they can get married". Agreed. But sure in your own mind you would have certain "hopes."

Of course, the few singles on the board are welcome to outline the kind of Princess or Frog that you are dreaming for?

P.S. The thought came to me as I seem to come across almost every couple from 1 yr to 40 yrs of marriage complaining about their spouses.

They can marry whoever makes them happy but i wudnt want them to hope the marriage will last forever...it shudnt have to..really.. if it does - wonderful. if it doesnt, its nbd.

u come across too many couples complaining about their spouses bcz they r working too hard to make their marriage work (or maybe bcz they don't know another way to behave...they saw their parents complaining and they do too even whn everything is good).
the important thing is to be happy and they shud do everything (including shadi) that makes them happy

sasthi ,

ur son may not have said that ..about the basement i mean ..but the truth is ..as parents we can never be sure of what our kids will do and will not ...for us

best is not to go overboard with them ..to save our money for our old age ..

the other ...we dont expect and we wont get hurt .

yup

Imagine... if the son has THIS kind of idea, the DIL will even bury you under the basement.

Kadavulae! He is only preteen. Atleast he gets the point that he needs to provide to his wife, kids, and Mom!

The important thing is it is clear to him that he needs to earn his house and living...(That's my job...)
