It was in 1970s. He was a high school teacher. His parents arranged to get him married to a woman who worked at LIC. They got the dowry etc. But the parents of the girl were clever. They did not spend a sing penny on the marriage. The bride borrowed money from her employer for the marriage expenses. I guess she must used her pension fund as the collateral.

My cousin's parents were unhappy. But they could not do a thing about it.

the hindustan times article is about a newly married husband not consummating his marriage because the wife lied about her having a job when they got married

turned out she didnt have one

the woman wanted a divorce

Judge Gambhir ( love this name ) granted the divorce because he thought what husband did was physical and mental cruelty .he ought to have waited until woman settled down and found a job .

I love what your cousin's wife and her parents did. Way to go!

Abt the article. Same thing happened to someone I know. The guy is in US. Lied to the girl and her parents in India abt his job in US. The girl, after coming to US, found out abt it. Meanwhile, she got pregnant. Got herself an abortion and divorced the guy.
I don't blame the guy in the article.
