Rina Golan

read this book by Rina Golan yesterday:

Rina is originally from Israel, spent several years in the U.S., and then came to India. She talks about being propositioned by Subhash Ghai (film director and producer), Anoop Jalota (well known bhajan singer), Anees Bazmi (film director and producer), and Dr Ali Irani (former physio of Indian cricket team). In the case of Bazmi it was confined to verbal propositioning but the other three touched her. Ghai even jerked off in her presence in his bedroom while touching her she claims. Later when his repeated efforts bore no result, Ghai told her to keep her virginity to herself. She also had a nasty experience with someone who she befriended and would hang out with (along with the guy's friends) who later turned out to be a member of the Mumbai mafia. For two years, she was also the girlfriend of a small time struggling actor.
Prior to the Indian experience, there are some fine snapshots of her life in New York. She worked as a massage specialist in NY. That was after she worked as a stripper--something she did not enjoy doing.

The whole book is in the form of a letter to Shahrukh Khan. She says she met SRK on several occasions and he promised to give her $20,000 through Dr Ali Irani but the money did not materialize. On the other hand, she says SRK never tried to proposition her and always behaved decently and respectfully with her.
Why SRK would invite her to his bedroom in NY and spend one hour talking to her is something of a mystery to me though.

The reason she asked SRK for the money was because she was studying in NY at the time and needed the money to finish her studies.

it is at times like these that i miss resold cycle's spirited defense of bollywood and his trademark question at the end: "do you not have sisters and mother who go to work to earn a living?" or something along those lines.
btw, what was rina gola doing when subhash ghai was playing with his childhood friend? studying the carpet in his bedroom?

she says she was in a state of shock. the incident happened according to her in a bedroom in Ghai's educational institute 'Whispering Woods'.
