No, the story 'Om Shanti Om' starts in 1977. SRK (Om) and his friend are junior artists. Deepika Padukone (shanti) is a famous movie star. He is a big fan, and sorta in love with her. In some set, he saves her life in a fire accident. So as a thank you, she meets him a couple of times, and becomes friendly with him.

Then he finds out that she's secretly married to a big producer (temple wedding). She confronts him (producer) for not disclosing their marriage, specially now that she's pregnant. She wants to quit movies and start a family. The producer in turn, burns the set down, and her with it, gets insurance and marries a rich girl. Oh, the hero boy sees all this happening and tries to save her, but the thugs kill him too. No one finds out about the murders.

He then gets reborn into a producer's house, and goes on to become a huge star (like his dream from his last birth) in 2007, 30 years later. Sorta conveniently, he looks like the SRK from last birth, and also has the 'om' tattoo from last birth as a birth mark. He gets names Om in both the births. Hence the name of the movie Om Shanti Om. Get it?

Anyway, one day runs into his mom from previous birth and friend. Mom thinks he is her Om. Also, after a fire accident, he suddenly remembers his past life, and seeks revenge from the producer. He finds a Deepika lookalike (yeah, double role for her too), and trains her to behave as if the ghost of deepika is back. I guess the general idea is to spook out the producer. In the end, the bad guy is punished. But guess what, Deepika's real ghost was actually there too, and she helps them fight the baddie.

i see. what was interesting about it all? was it intellectually stimulating? humorous? did the director bring you a new perspective on human existence or the day-to-day affairs of men and women? what was interesting about the song that you linked? dying to know.

I had liked the movie. I know some people hated it with all their heart, but I had liked it. Was popcorn time pass movie. And many movie industry subtle and not-so-subtle jokes that you would get if you have been reasons stardust from that era.

More over, my kids loved the movie too, and would reenact some of the scenes from it. eg son would fight with a big stuffed tiger, rolling with it on the floor. Or they both would reenact the fire scene of her banging on glass window calling om for help.

I liked the songs of the movie. I do post them from time to time. I liked this song particularly for the punjabi first part sung by the woman. And the rest of the song too. Beautiful lyrics, a bit sad. I also liked its picturisarion.

The first stanza in the woman's voice is in Panjabi. I understand parts of it, but kinda figure out the rest. The rest of the song is in hindi.
