True Masculinity - What does Hitchens mean? Empty True Masculinity - What does Hitchens mean?

Writing the introduction to Rebecca West's book about Yugoslavia, Christopher Hitchens says that he felt like he got 4 books for the price of 1.

There was one sentence in there that seemed interesting:

"The second volume gives an account of the mentality and philosophy of a superbly intelligent woman, whose feminism was above all concerned with the respect for, and the preservation of, true masculinity"

I wonder what he meant, what women think of this, and if any feminists today would agree.

saaar ! I have almost always rejected knowledge about women from most media-literature, books, songs, poems etc -as almost all of it is created/written by men - except those works of some rarely, narrated by women to men . That perhaps is the reason why men folks continue to say even today, jeez i don't understand woman, because they all read the wrong source of knowledge, I am afraid. I wish you the best with your invitation . On the lighter evil side as I type this I recall the movie as good as it gets nicholson's bit on how he manages to write like a woman
