To MAX
i think most of you guys are a confused bunch. claiming and strongly asserting that our language has an origin different from sanskrit is not the same thing as forsaking the role of sanskrit on our arts, music, and literature. and finally the dravida kazhagamists are not the only ones who have ownership of all things tamil and they certainly don't speak for all of us

===> Then as to what purpose do you spend so much time and energy to prove that Tamil has no roots in Sanskrit?
Either you wage a marathon war with Rashmun going back and forth on this issue or start a thread of your own citing some scholarly article in linguistics to prove your point.

Re: To MAX
the link you posted is about food, not language, and it's p. seetharamayya's rant. no one told the poor fella that the food he's been eating is northindian food, which he describes quite well:
every fucking thing tastes the same with that meaningless mix of spices. also I couldnt find one dish that lets the taste of the vegetable/leaves shine thru... everything's overcooked and drenched in masala.

Propagandhi started that thread with his rant on desi food. Then it morphed into a discussion on why Telugus give their kids NI names. Then someone brought up the influence of Sanskrit on SI litreature, arts, music etc. That is where MAX posted the stuff I copied and pasted.

Re: To MAX
It's interesting to read what I wrote a year ago . I try not to get sucked into the language/ni-si/tamil-sanskrit/aryan-dravidian wars nowadays. I do fail sometimes though.
It's a total waste of time and energy. Fanatics remain fanatics, fools remain fools. Nothing changes. It's better to stay away from such topics.

i don't think i spend any time at all in proving that tamil has no roots in sanskrit. there is only one person on sulekha who said funny things like that - seva aka laberdar. i don't remember rashmun saying that tamil has its roots in sanskrit. languages are generally interesting to me. i find languages and their relationships to each other recreational in the same way that i find mathematics and physics recreational. discussions with rashmun and others about it are incidental.

saraboji: i answered your q. now it's your turn to answer mine. why is it that every rapist, scumbag, and trailer trash story attract your attention? why do you have a special affinity for the life and times of the dregs of humanity? just curious.

I am intrigued by how bad people can be regardless of the IQ, education and status.
News involving sex catches my attention especially if the guy is deemed to be very intelligent and successful end up getting caught.
For example, the case of "Carleton Gajdusek, who has died aged 85, had the rare distinction of being a Nobel prizewinner and a convicted child molester."
