MD, what else do you suggest to a hapless vegetarian?
I could try Happy Cow...http://www.happycow.net/south_america/brazil/rio_de_janeiro/

I've never been to Rio but the few Brazilian restaurants I patronized in the US all had a few vegetarian choices. There'll always be rice and black beans. There'll always be fried plantains. There's usually some some miscellaneous sabzi made of leeks / cabbage etc that I would have only glanced at.
Of course, my recommendation would be to drop your self-imposed haplessness and partake of the carniovorous delights that Brazilian cuisine excels in. But if you feel compelled to stick to veggie food, then why not try a few local offerings?

Thanks! I think I have an idea now...rice, black 'raajma' and vaazhakkai curry.
I fully intend to try the local vegetarian fare.

>>>Honestly, as MD says below now may be the time for a change. People rave about brazilian meat dishes, but if you insist

Have fun in Rio. Never been there, but my brother used to go there often and loved it(incidentally, a vegetarian who has a tough time even with eggs)
