the spokesperson quoted in the article is named Manjula Lusti Narasimhan. I chuckled like a juvenile and then like a good vetti officer I quickly googled and found out this about her.

it never ceases to amaze me when people excel in two or more disconnected fields. from Charlie Ward, Bo Jackson, mark Spitz, Kalam, Thomas young, and this Manjula....
At times, makes me think that my life has been a total waste.

It is not curable. docs have not been able to replicate that procedure on anyone. That transplant has very low survival rates.
