That is Rs. 36,000 crores. Add that to money coming in from Bill Gates for the railway toilets. May be sanitary-related stuff is the next big investment opportunity in India after cable, telecom, and wireless. Imagine, 1.2 billion people's needs! Are there other companies like Parrys in India?

There is one small problem. Rural sanitation? Rural area is not over crowded no has an uncontrolled population explosion. They pretty manage their matters well. Rarely I have seen kids shytting on the roadside or saw dumplings lining the roads or open sewers.

The sanitation project should focus on the URBAN area primarily in poor areas and to a much lesser extent in the rural regions. Of course, many a projects have failed in the very same slum areas, and that will be a challenge to educate them. What is needed is a bill-board education on shytting along the lines of "family planning" and "election campaign"
