Indian voters as screwed as politicians

...they complain about throwing all corrupt politicans into jail. When thrown in jail, they go and vote massively in their favor.......

Any wonder JJ, MK, Raja, Kanimozhi, Sonia, Jagan, Janardhana, Yiddy don't care about any conviction-knowing full well the people will vote themback to power before they are ever convicted.

What a shame.

It is..feel the same way about American politics too, these days.

And of course, if there is a salacious aspect like John Edwards case..the Prosecutions go all out too, spending millions ..only to see the jury fed up (since ALL politicians take campaign donations and are crooks!)

What a shame.

Now there will be two parties in AP - YSR Congress and TDP for the next 30 years or so. Congress is a goner in AP with no charismatic leader. But then, the present congress is not a congress at all, and not the same one that gave Sanijiva Reddy, Brahmananda Reddy, and Vengal Rao.

Indian voters truly deserve the "rulers" they get.

AP voters will make the state a basket case. All the explanations of the defeat by both Congress and TDP are unconvincing. Jagan arrest sympathy is possible but not enough reason as it was intentionally planned for this time by congress. Money played a role. TDP could complain about it but Congress has more of it and it should have won if it is money. Congress MP candidate from Nellore is probably one of the richest in AP and he could have spent any amount if he could win( he lost by couple of lakhs of votes). Another explanation was that Jagan's followers were mostly reddys and cast feeling helped him. IT is probaly true that Reddys were strongly behind Jagan but they support him out of their free will. Congress has about 70 plus reddy legislators and is headed by a Reddy. TDP has its own section of reddy leadership. Neither of them were able to dent Jagan's hold on reddy community. Christians of Andhra make 10% of the voting public. All most all of them support Jagan who is a devout christian. This was known before and congress and TDP could not break that hold.

Jagan has lumpen element. So does congress the ruling party. None of the excuses make sense. Jagan won fair and square.

A "I told you so" MOMENT

When Jagan was arrested I said it was a bad political move by Congress, and Jagan will ride a double sympathy wave (YSR+Jagan). It was made worse by the twin women blasting across the state (an unexpected factor).

DUT (P711) disagreed and some others said Jagan's corruption was so bad Gultis would not vote for him.

Guess what...Gults have proved that they are dumber than tamilians (who switch between the two corrupt groups) to vote for Jagan so soon after his corruption expose.

I am sure the Galli brothers are licking and salivating...in Karnataka.

I have to dispute your told you so analysis.

The seats for which by elections were 95% YSR party seats previously. Most of them are in reddy dominated areas. That community decided to follow him. ANother factor that is less discussed is the Telangana factor. In Andhra there is a general perception that YSR party would be able to Keep Hyd open for Andhraites.

YSR pushed for by elections by forcing resignations. So the last minute act of arrests may have helped a little bit but it is not as big as some people are making it out to be. Congress and TDP were aware of these facts but could not convince people to not vote for Jagan.

Jagan won despite many forces rallied against him. Once people decide to favor someone, most of the logical reasoning goes out of the wind. Unfortunately in this case, people sided with most corrupt and lumpen element. Bad for AP and Bad for India.
