An inspirational quote
From something I read about Tata's B. Muthuraman:
An individual known for his commitment and aspirations to take
Tata Steel to unimaginable heights, Mr. B Muthuraman has commented that he
derives his inspiration captured in the following quote by Patanjali, an
ancient Indian philosopher –
“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some
extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds – your mind
transcends limitations, your conscience expands in every direction and you find
yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and
talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by than
you ever dreamed”

Do people attain the ability to BS once they reach the top or they learn how to BS to reach the top?

It is easy to advice. So here is my two cents. Julia child went to cooking school.when she was 37. Wrote her first book at 49. Gardening, painting, story writing, etc. In india they say there 64 basic arts some of them forgotten today.
As i am writing this i am asking my self the same questions.

Re: An inspirational quote
this muthuraman deserves Indophile's Renumeration and the Gownder's Morning Coffee Award for confusing "conscience" with "consciousness" and misquoting patanjali.Kris wrote:From something I read about Tata's B. Muthuraman:

Re: An inspirational quote
===> There was a famous technocrat in India called Krishnamurthy. Indira gandhi liked him and made him the Chairman of the BHEL. He was successful in making that public sector behemoth profitable. That made him a hero in the eyes of many among the educated Indian middle class.
He wrote books on management. People thought whatever he said was gospel. Indira Gandhi also made him run the Steel Authority of India.
After his retirement, he was arrested on corruption charges. A friend of mine knows a guy who used to be the personal assistant to Krishnamurthy. The Chariman of the SAIL corporation traveled often to New Delhi to meet the bureacrats and politicians. Before he embarked on the journey to the capital city, he would ask his P.A to book his favorite prostitute, Uma. She was an U.P brahmin.
"Dey, Umavai book pannudaa," was his instruction to his P.A who was also a Tamil Brahmin.
For all that matter, he may be well versed in Bhagawad Gita, Patanjai's yogasutra and what not!

?????
relevance???? ok...
1. TamBrahms are not holy and do indulge in prostitutioning.
2. TamBrahmi MD trusts only another TamBrahm as his PA
3. UP Brahmin women also use Southie names such as Uma
4. UP women - although prostitutes - are open to business with tamBrami men - perhaps, bcz they all came from UP to begin with.
5. There is no need to indulge in Raping while in Delhi
6. Shows true national synthesis - a Tamil speaking tamBrahmi man working in eastern India, being thought of highly by Naarthies, while he treats UP women as equal to southie women - with the exception that he picked a "Uma" and not some "saira Begum"

"raising kids in this country is no less than a tapasya." had heard an aunty say this when I had just immigrated. Do agree with her.

I am still struggling. What has patanjali quote got to do with up brahmins and tamil brahmins? Patanjali's quote applies to every one who wants to achieve great levels.

Re: An inspirational quote
===> The story I posted about SAIL chairman Krihnamurthy is only tangentially relevant to the original post.
Kris posted some stuff what B. Muthuraman , CEO of Tata Motors said. It was some kind of moral and ethical lesson from Muthuraman who quoted Patanjali telling others how to be a greater person. My point is this : when fellows like this Muthuraman character start preaching others how to behave, watch out. They are most likely to have skeletons in their closets.
Where is it written that whatever I say must be relevant to the original discussion?

I want to believe that that's enough and no greater purpose is required.

The legendary krishnamurty was liked and hated in the same measure. He wad one tough cookie that indira liked. He was an important figure in indian economic liberalization. His maruti success showed indian officialdom that something good can also be made in india. That maruti effect changed lot of minds.
Whether he was/is a brahmin or slept with a up or tamil brahmin is not of any consequence other than for idle brahmin caste surfers of internet.
don't drag him through mud.

now that everything is C L E A R...
exercising my FoS, Maruti would have been a success no matter who ran it. It was started by Sanjay Gandhi and Govt wold have pulled all stops to make it a success. Secondly, with Premier, Ambassador, and Contessa flooding all over Indians would have snapped any car that looked different.
remember a Maruti copy cat - MONTANA? 800 CC car that waas not a success bc it did not have political backing.

Re: An inspirational quote
Whether maruti would have been a success is a question that could never be answered to the satisfaction of all people. Maruti has strong technical background from suzuki and krishnMurty wad the leader in india. So the leader credits some credit and based on his past credentials maruti accolades seem credible.
You say sanjay and politicos would have helped. I suspect they would have looted the project and filled their pockets if not for kridhnamurty.

Re: An inspirational quote
===> TBT,
LOL at being called idle surfer.
I think as long as I don't visit porn sites or run Internet scams, it is ok to be an idle surfer.
The problem with going to prostitutes is this: you are actively participating in the subjugation of women. Prostitutes do not grow on trees in India. Innocent girls from villages or even cities are lured by evil men into the flesh trade. And they are raped by many men initially to become desensitized to having sex with many clients in a day. So what fellows like Krishnamurthy are doing is to induce much more being girls forced into this evil. So what he was successful as a leader of a corporation?
BTW I got an A- on the statistics course I took at UCB extension.
