Was abt to tell you that. I used to pick up my morning cuppa from the Peet's right across the street from South Station.

Nescafe?? Sir, you are making provocative statements designed to offend and inflame the sentiments of sections of society. My sentiments are certainly offended and inflamed. I demand that your handle be banned from SUCH immediately or I shall now go out and burn some buses to show my hurt.Huzefa Kapasi wrote:nescafe by another name would taste just as sweet. what's the brewhaha about?

ha ha! sure it can. nescafe encore is chicory packed: http://www.nestle.ca/en/products/brands/Nescafe/encore.htm
but probably your decoctioned, highbrow brand, like coorgi perhaps, would not compare. but wait a minute! i got another critic of peet's coffee -- so i am not alone. blabberwock told me on chat the she would never touch coffee made by anyone named "peet." how unappetizing, she felt. i take that to mean she'd rather sip nescafe.

Nespresso it is these days - not Nescafe.
Peet reminds me of peat. Another example is "pocari sweat" - that was a bold name to choose for a drink.

Re: peet's coffee
LOL @ pocari sweat.
The reference to sweat in the name of the beverage tends to have a certain offputting or humorous connotation for native English speakers. However, the name was chosen by the manufacturers originally for the purpose of marketing the product as a sports drink in Japan,[2] where people generally do not mentally translate names appearing in English and are therefore not bothered by the connotation. It was largely derived from the notion of what it is intended to supply to the drinker: all of the nutrients and electrolytes lost when sweating.[3][4]The first part of the name, Pocari, does not have any meaning; the word was coined for its light, bright sound.[5]
