Yahoo mail account compromised Empty Yahoo mail account compromised

Some of my friends got spam messages yesterday from my Yahoo account. I haven't logged into it in a long time, so I have no idea how it got hacked. I changed my password and enabled cell-phone based checking for password change. Anyone had a similar experience with Yahoo? Any ideas how my account could have been hijacked? I am wondering if I should just delete my Yahoo email account, because I don't use it any more, and all my friends know where to reach me.

have had this happen to quite a few friends/fam. changing passwords help usually. dunno why it happens though.

this has happened to me twice in yahoo. the second time my yahoo ac was linked to fb and my fb account got hacked too. it has led me to believe that yahoo is quite vulnerable. i have since stopped using yahoo email account(s) altogether.

I think I will delete my Yahoo account altogether. I don't like the idea of leaving it open so someone can hack it and pretend to be me.
