Romney is the only serious rival for Obama. Hopefully the Tea Partiers will make sure he doesn't get the ticket.

Although, Obama's fate will depend on unemployment and gas prices as of October 2012. So wishing for a really bad GOP nominee can be a really bad idea.

All aspirants with TV shows have over exposed themselves. Palin has way too much baggage to win. If California goes bankrupt by 2012, Democrats are toast. If Republicans take California the dems have no chance.

Thanks, just read the whole article. Interesting perspective on direct democracy. I agree with the general notion that direct democracy should be a valve. There is no accountability in direct democracy and funding is a big yfactor as well. Giving legistlature the power to revert passed propositions is a tough ask. If they are limited only to certain aspects, say executive recall, and barred from other aspects like finances it may turn our better.
