I never compliment a man unless he is a friend. So, don't know what it means!

Re: complimented at work
I have complemented men who I find least attractive, just to see them blush, but my real motive is to see if they are interviewing somewhere.
Having said that, I have this physical inablity to be attracted by any man at work... that place is usually such a war zone, I am pretty gender nuetral.

Re: complimented at work
If a man says to a woman, 'you look so pretty today' does it mean there's something to it? Couldn't it be just a compliment?

Because if a man says to a woman you look pretty today, he basically wants to have sex with her.

Is it? Why does even a simple compliment has to have a sex angle to it?

Unless he is a used car salesman, there is no other angle.

What do you mean by not true. Here's how the conversation goes
Pretty girl walks by. Man says, "Hey, you look pretty today!"
Girl blushes and says, "gee, thank you very much!"
Man says, "so do you want to have sex with me tonight?"
Hence proved.

Are you serious? Women think very differently then. Such compliments won't create any doubts in the woman and will be taken as a nice compliment. They won't read anything more to it. In the above compliment that the woman gave Rashman, I'm sure she'd have given it in all innocence. Nothing more to it.

Let me respond on behalf of Rashmun and man, in general. If a pretty woman says, "hey...you look dressier (or whatever)!" To us, that means she is dying to sleep with him. Here's how the conversation should have gone:
"Rashmun, you look dressier (or whatever!"
Rashmun - "I'm free tonight!"
But we choke. I understand that. Society has declawed us and put clamps around us testicles. We can't just vocalize what our mind is thinking. But if we could, then hands would be doing the talking. Rashmun - am I right or am I right?
Re: complimented at work
"Rashmun, you look dressier (or whatever!"
Rashmun - "I'm free tonight!"
And the thoughts of the woman would go only until having a nice dinner with him at a restaurant.

Not sure abt that. But I guess women need to be wary of what they say and what men say to them.

Did I say anywhere that someone said that to me?
If you get hulchul in you pants on seeing some random woman's pic, then you need to get married ASAP or work on your relationship with your wife if you are already married and/or see a shirnk. The depraved indian men! Ugh!

if she is british, you must carefully asses her comments. she said "it's looking good." she perhaps meant it. she could have as well said "it's looking good on you" or "you are looking good." careful with those british people.
here's an anecdote that i read recently.
british 1 (while leaving his guest's house, looking at a pile of umbrellas) - i say, is that my umbrella?
british 2 - i can't say i am so sure, sir, but it was with you when you arrived.

Re: complimented at work
i must tell you that you should also be careful while dealing with true blue punekars. you will not be able to tell a compliment from a jab.
a friend of mine was riding pillion with a person who was not from pune. they were riding it on bhandarkar road and an elderly puneri gentleman was miffed at what he thought was rash riding. when they came to a sudden halt before the gentleman who was crossing the road, he asked to the rider "is your last name bhandarkar?" and left the place.
the guy was puzzled and started wondering if he knew the old man. it was then that his puneri friend told him that the old man wanted to ask him if that road belonged to his(rider) father.

Lol at Brits stories. She probably meant the shirt. I have compliments shirts too, many times. Bach gayi rashmunni.
Waise if someone compliments my clothes, Items, house or husband, I take it as an indirect compliment to my 'choice'.

Trashy, now that you no longer exchange abusive language and reveal personal details about your erstwhile buddy QueenBee, do you really want to get into a name calling slang match with me?

In the same spirit:
A senior indian govt official was asked a question by his colleague about the kids who were visiting him at his office.
'kya yeh bachche aapke hain?' [are these kids yours?]
his reply:
'meri bibi to yahi kahethi hain'. [that's what my wife says.]
