Why is that European countries like Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland with year around cold weather have lesser crime rate than many other nations?

I think it has something to do with the lattitude.

It is a fact that when you have a long summer and the temperature soar to 90 degrees Fareinheit, there are going to be more people out on the streets and that too at odd hours. With a lot of time on their hands, people tend to go overboard and engage in rowdy and criminal behavior.
