Nepotism comes to bite Mr. CMU
Sometime I posted the story about the guy who owns an IT body shop and lied about having gone to CMU.
Mr. CMU brought his cousin here on an H1-B visa. The kid had done B.Com and got some training from a shoddy trade school back home. He was let go by one client after another after a few months. What was the main complaint? Inability to communicate. Mr. CMU sent his cousin as a business analyst to his clients.
After a year of financially supporting his not-to-bright relative, Mr. CMU finally got a break. A contract from the state highway administration. They wanted a body. And he did not want him to screw up this oppoprtunity.
Mr. CMU put his relative on a rigorous interview training. He coached him to ace the technical part of the interview. Then he told him "Look. After they have asked you all the possible questions related to the job, they will ask you one final question. 'DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION?' What will you say?"
The relative mumbled something. Mr. CMU got annoyed "If you just keep quiet, they will think you can't communicate and that you don't know anything. Ask them "DO YOU HAVE A DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN? They will be impressed."
The day arrived. The cousin started driving for the job interview. He took the Baltimore Washington Parkway and then the I695. He had to drive through the Fort McHenry Tunnel to reach the destination.
The interview went smoothly. Then the final question. "Do you have any question?" The cousin's face lit up. The words disaster recovery plan came to his mind.
"What will you do if Fort McHenry Tunnel collapses?"
The next day, Mr. CMU was woken up by the loud knocks on his front door. There were two men who identified themselves to be the agents of the Maryland Board of Investigation. They let themselves in. Then the grilling started. How long Mr. CMU has been in the country. What are the other countries he travelled to? And how did he happened to know the guy he sent for the job interview. etc.
A couple of days later, there was call from FBI as well.

He didn't give any clues on CMU guy's background, did he? I assumed it must be a Telugu (when a telugu who better than a Reddy) given their penchant for producing fake degrees and other fraudulent activities in general, especially in IT body shops.
