Firtst give it to her to follow the typical scary ABCD statement "I will do whatever I want to do". Scary to Desi parents, but if they encourage that and dont totally subvert that kind of an enthusiasm in a "talented" child, the kid WILL succeed and surprise the parents.

Now, NOT a Single soul in India will think that this woman is brilliant and she will likely be an unemployed PhD for a very very long time in India. I realized that to my shock, and hence, I decided to remain a high school dropout - that is what I say in India as well. Saves me a lot of energy. Education has not evolved sufficiently to understand double major, minor, changing majors, etc..etc.. It is coming only in a handful of schools and only a miniscule number even take those tortuous route. I came across a girl who did a Double major in EE and Physics in a "reputed" IIT-caiber school, and came to US specifically to do Astronomy at a great school in a not-so-insignificant town. The sister declined her IIT and went for Fashion Technology at NIFT at Ahmedabad. Of course, the father is a PhD from US who went back and let his kids do whatever they liked (he is also loaded and daughters have no need to worry about money).

The first paper in the list is titled - "Why do mothers breastfeed girls more than boys?"

Not a good title. Of course, it means - why do mothers breastfeed girls more than they breastfeed boys?

I quickly read it as - Why do mothers breastfeed girls than boys breastfeed girls? and then corrected myself.Smile
