All this talk of Batakhini...
... reminded me of this word. It's an actual Hyderabadi word and it is used also in Telugu, particularly in the Telangana dialect. The word is pronounced bAtAkhAnI. It can mean empty banter, tall tales, or long stories. It is also used to refer to a person who does a lot of bAtAkhAnI. This, by the now-famous methods of Weekend Linguistics, proves that batakhini is the true name of the progenitor of Hindi.

Another essential ingredient of arguments in Weekend Linguistics is the random newspaper article. Here I do the needful.

You got to see the bare-knuckled bravado in a verbal brawl. You got to have a working knowledge of invective to gain entry into this. You got to use crude-spun phrases. By the way, can you weave a yarn -- the more colourful, the better. Are you a spi nmeister? Put in double entendre, and well, your passport rocks. Welcome to the world of batakhani or what is called suthi nearer home. Friends in Bengal fondly call it adda.

Sir, astute minds know there is no such thing as coincidence. The great glut admin orchestrated that entire thread using his sock puppets so he could serve up this coup de grace. All this mockery of his own language shows he is no Hyderabadi.

Thank you. Yes, I orchestrate everything here. Without my command, even an ant does not bite. Keen observers will note that MD and HA have posted their messages with my prior approval, and this is an attempt by me to demonstrate my awesome powers.

Yes, that reads better. The Telugu version says that without Shiva's command, even an ant does not bite.

MD did that on the great glut Admin's command! Otherwise he would never dare do an ulti on a gulti.
