How should the international community react to such charges which could be baseless and even motivated by other factors and considerations (including perhaps personal grievances etc.)?

A few years ago a Christian woman from India, during her visit to Canada for a religious conference, appeared on a TV channel in Toronto and said (in paraphrased form), "Christians face serious discrimination in India"

Just a few months ago, before the Canadian prime minister was to leave on official visit to India recently, a Sikh woman reporter (Toronto's Omni TV) during a news conference asked the prime minister, paraphrasing here, "Sir, do you plan to take the issue of mistreatment and discrimination against Muslims, Sikhs and Christians in India with the Indian Govt.?”

And what if those charges are not so baseless, Unkil? There are a few million people in a place called Kashmir, whose democratic rights are non-existent - they can be picked up, beaten up, raped and or strung up by the armed forces without any legal recourse. Does that sound very fair and non-discriminatory to you?

Do you think similar situation would not happen in other states if people took law in their own hands?

Whatever sound justification you come up with, the fact remains that Indian armed forces are persecuting a bunch of civilians in their own land. All in the name of nationalism. So why are you so upset when outsiders look askance at such brutal occupation?? It's not exactly model behaviour, is it?

What own land?
Try asking an American living in America to act that way (taking the law in own hands) and see for how long he / she gets away as being the owner of land (America)?

Um..Unkil, a bunch of Americans took law into their own hands in the Boston Harbor in December 1773 and that's how the revolution began.

That is like what happened in India during 1947 or before. You should google for Oklahoma Bomber etc. instead.

Yes. there is also discrimination against DKheads like Raja, swamis like Niytananda mahraj-ji, sports administrators like Kalmadi, tribal leaders like Shibu Soren, Muslim intellectuals like Afzal Guru, secularists like Laloo, Dalits like Mayawati, highly successful businessmen like Vadra-ji, highly successful politicians like Jagan Reddy, romantic lawyers like Abhishek Manu Singvi, Khajuraho leaders like Ram Singh, parliamentarians like Kurian, etc. Communal RSS is responsible for harassing these wonderful people. The Canadian PM should ask the Indian PM to ban the communal RSS. That will solve all problems in incredible India.

It just might be a mixed up spurious personal agenda.

For example, as Merlot argued earlier, the Muslim mistreatment and discrimination in India might amount to Indian opposition and use of military force against Muslims who seek separation of Kashmir from India.

Similarly, some Sikhs might feel mistreated if they face opposition to the creation of Khalistan (Sikh nation) and the Christians might feel religiously discriminated and persecuted if they encounter resistance / opposition to freely convert non-Christians to Christianity.
