it's the brainwashing part thats contentious and part of the problem..would you say the same of gandhi followers who sacrificed a lot for the freedom of India?

Kris - my premise is not any specific organization/group of people at all and is more general - from that perspective, does adopting gandhian way in freedom struggle ( which is just another different strategy, but nevertheless fighting) come under brainwashing was the question ? propelled by gandhian persuasion, they volunteered and just like anybody they got hurt and a lot died. strategies and mechanisms of protest vary with times; conflict resolution by force happens in the middle of cities and civilians, unlike the mahabharatham days of displaying valor outside - that was the good old days, of course
