Comrade, you don't think the US is headed for hard times as oil prices fall? Places like North Dakota will go from boom to bust. The sanctions are only working on Russia thanks to the Saudis trying to bankrupt the shale companies which they eventually will.
PS: It was the Republican controlled Congress that passed the sanctions in case you are forgetting.

Until couple of years ago it was [global] consumption that drove the prices higher now it is the production cost!! did they adopt different technologies to produce oil now?Hellsangel wrote:Comrade, you don't think the US is headed for hard times as oil prices fall? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-17/oil-is-cheap-but-not-so-cheap-that-americans-won-t-profit-from-it.htmlHere’s a list of break-even points for some of America’s biggest shale-oil regions. Note that most regions continue to be profitable below $80, including the Bakken and Eagle Ford formations, two of the most important sources. Much of the Eagle Ford play would still be profitable with $50 oil.

Keep whining, Comrade. Perhaps that gives you a measure of comfort.
There is a certain production cost and if oil price falls below that level, shale production is no longer profitable.
CNN has an excellent article on it. I suggest you try reading it.

Where do these articles say that the consequences of lower gas prices will put severe dent in the US economy? Are we really expecting the oil prices to go below two dollars, we are not talking about a handful of gas stations. it appears as though some analyst was shooting in the dark. How come not enough demand for oil, Indians and Chinese stopped driving or what?Hellsangel wrote:Read this, Comrade:

That article was written in October where he talks about $70 a barrel.
What is oil trading at now?
Guess on what price of oil Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have based their national budgets now.

Yup! Oil prices cannot continue to fall for ever and that price is reaching fast. Be ready for 'Jobless placard' handed over to another group in the industry.Hellsangel wrote:confuzzled dude wrote:Until couple of years ago it was [global] consumption that drove the prices higher now it is the production cost!! did they adopt different technologies to produce oil now?Hellsangel wrote:Comrade, you don't think the US is headed for hard times as oil prices fall? I thought it was Mary Landrieu who wanted it desperately.
