Taking the 5th Empty Taking the 5th

Does India have something similar to "taking the 5th?" Just curious.

Not that the bad guys there need one, they can alsways resort to their own indelicate ways to deny everything and "defend" themselves (best form of defence is attack, by whatever means:-)

I don't think India has something similar. In India, Fundamental Rights take the place of the US Bill of Rights. As far as I remember, those fundamental rights don't include a right not to speak against oneself. Not sure how the courts in India interpreted the matter in the past, if they were ever asked.
