Nitish married Aarti on May 6, and just two days later, she told him that she was already married to her lover, Vineet, police said.
In a goodwill gesture, Nitish contacted Vineet on June 8
Smart man....1 month is good enough, and he anted to cut the losses before he could get into deeper trouble.
But, this Vineet-Aarti marriage will be a very troublesome one, and is bound to end up in divorce in the not too distant future.

Looks like you are thinking that Nitish is a modern Bhishma. I agree with Uppili. He is a pragmatic, level-headed person. Hopefully, Vineet isn't an insecure (Hindi fanatic -just added for affect) bhaiyya who suspects his wife and keeps her locked up.

Oh pls ppl, think straight! The man accepts her as his sister. So he couldn't have consummated the marriage. even if it took a month for him to rejoin her with her lover, there's no ground to suspect anything.

One more thing, among SIs, I find men from Kerala, Andhra and Karnataka are more willing to marry widows than men from TN.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: Man unites wife with lover, accepts her as sister
i did not notice the dates in the article. Uppili is correct that it should not have taken one month for the guy to contact his wife's boyfriend. Also, the marriage has probably been consummated since she told her husband about the other guy two days after her marriage. It is in very poor taste to go into the bedroom life of anyone but i have to wonder whether the girl was having sex with her husband for the one month period (before he contacted her boyfriend). He may have bargained with her that he would let her get together with her boyfriend (with his blessings) if she allows him to be intimate with him for one month. The other possibility is that he was in two minds about her when she told him her secret and thought it over for one month, found she was not hot enough for him, and decided to let her go.

Just as expected. But, I thought that Vineet would dump Aarti after a few months, not before it even started.
Now, the "brother and sister" could not live again as hubby/wife - they will be the laughing stock.
The girl's life is Komboletely Ruined....and everyone - every youngster and unkil and grandpa - will look at her as a freebie and a prostitute.
This is what happens when the 20 yr olds - assuming they know everything (but reality) - take spontaneous decisions.
Really sad (not to mention the stupid).
P.S. waiting for the next chapter in this story - some broad-minded prince to marry her or she commits suicide or ?????

If her lover is married to her, he is her husband (i hope she has proof to that). Her marriage to the second guy doesn't hold up legally because she's already married. The courts shld step in and have her lover take her back or give her divorce and pay the alimony and stuff.

P.S. Why is Nitesh marrying at 21?

The practice of people from all over the city coming to the girl's house to try and get a glimpse of her and also her family. Because of what's happened to her she is being considered as some kind of freak.
21 is the minimum legal age for marriage for men in India.

Looks like this:
The IT supervisor - altho 21 - was in demand. Aarti was forced to marry him as her parents realized the elder sister had betrayed them and did not want to lose the "great catch".
The girl tells the IT catch her side of the story. The IT dude - having watched one too many Lehenga movies - thought tying a rakhi would annul the marriage and does the ritual. So we now have a marriage in a temple with no proof; a marriage with proof but no proof and a Rakhi ritual with no proof....
I see a bollywood movie in this story.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: Man unites wife with lover, accepts her as sister
There is another update to this story: Aarti, after making her husband Nitesh her brother (on the ground that she was married earlier), has lodged a dowry harassment case against Nitesh. She now claims that Nitesh is not her brother but her husband. She says she had made Nitesh her brother under duress from Nitesh and her family.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: Man unites wife with lover, accepts her as sister
A few days after a husband accepted his newly-wedded wife as his sister and decided to reunite her with her old lover, the woman has accused the husband of harassing her for dowry.
"Aarti today (Wednesday) said that Nitish is her husband and whatever happened earlier was under pressure and accused him and his family members of harassing her for dowry," DIG Meerut Prem Prakash said.
"If her allegations are found true then a legal action will be initiated against Nitish and his family," he said.
"Aarti's family members say that they had already spent Rs12 lakh on her marriage and later Nitish and his family started demanding a car. When the demand was not met they started harassing her," the DIG said.
Nitish accepted Aarti, whom he had married on May 6, as his sister after she told him about her affair with Vineet on the night of their marriage. When Aarti told her new husband that she had already married Vineet a few days back, Nitish decided to reunite the two lovers.
Aarti and Nitish were invited by the district administration at the family counselling centre here on Sunday to sort out the issue but they turned down the suggestion of experts to live together again, saying that it was not possible as both of them had accepted each other as brother and sister. Aarti had then decided to go back to her parents' house.

>>>Okay, this story is growing in different directions. As best as I can make out, Nitesh and family get ticked off that they didn't get the money they wanted and they impose this 'sisterhood' thing on her to get rid of her. She may have had a boy friend previously and goes along with the "already married" party line, since that could get her out of this marriage. The boyfriend doesn't play along, the parents are ticked off.. she wants back into the marriage with Nitesh, the IT wunderkind, probably because her parents impress upon her there will no other takers, given this whole mess. She sees the dowry story as giving her some leverage in this transaction. Stay tuned as things develop.Rashmun wrote:There is another update to this story: Aarti, after making her husband Nitesh her brother (on the ground that she was married earlier), has lodged a dowry harassment case against Nitesh. the allegation of dowry harrassment seems to be the brainchild of some lawyer. i don't think there was any dowry harrassment. she has now been told that she will have a hard time getting married and so now she is going to try to get back with Nitesh.

It turns out the smartest and luckiest in this whole scenario may have been Vineet (the boyfriend who later refused to marry her).

Anti-Dowry (harassment) law in India is very strict. If she can prove that she was subjected to Dowry harassment Nitesh and even his parents could end up in jail. It is a kind of pressure the girl's family is putting on the boy and the boy's family to try and get him to accept her as his wife.

Re: Uttar Pradesh: Man unites wife with lover, accepts her as sister
Aarti herself said 2 days back that her MIL accepted her as her daughter after the brother-sister rakhi marriage and treated her very well like her own daughter.
Today the dowry story - must be some idiotic UP lawyer strategy (they are only good at producing great judges). He only made any chances of Aarti going back as the bahu almost nil.
One question - is that Nitesh dude rich ? An official divorce may entitle Aarti to significant sharer of the Nitesh's in herited wealth (the newest spanner thrown in by the stupid SC in Indian marriages).
She seems to be a super crook or super stupid. Either way she is highly qualified to be in politics.
