If your weight goes down by a couple of pounds but your body fat increases by 1%, what does it mean? Bad scale or you lost only water?

it means nothing happened within the margin of experimental error. couple of pounds is nothing. my weight swings by that much in a twenty four hour period.

This is the weight taken at the same time under same conditions. So the swing factor during the day is taken care of. Not counting it.

The scale is measuring your weight. What is measuring your body fat?

My wife has these calipers. I think mine was around 20%based on that. Not the best way to measure I'm told.

The same scale.
You should already know that this measurement isn't accurate.

Yes the scale accurately measures your weight. You have plenty to lose so just focus on that. Forget about body fat percentage. Stop wasting time over things that don't matter at this point in time.

Age also matters in these calculations.

You are not fat anymore, only when your D says so (Jatnis can put his on a banner and hang it on their walls).
