No. You write "be careful when you type 0s and Os."

proof that most of the suchers are in their 40s going on cranky 60s: furious wankery and breast beating over a silly apostrophe

i can't understand the angst about getting older. it's not like it's optional. i also don't understand one upmanship based on age.

my twenties weren't particularly pleasant for example. i wouldn't want to trade my current decade for that.

I am coming to realize that money, education, power don't teach what age and experience teaches a person.

I also understand why naarthies everyone touches the feet of an elderly person and why Southies "used" to do it to all elders in the family.

This is applicable if "Os" is a word. I didn't know Os is a word. Did you know Os is a word?

age doesn't necessarily impart wisdom and good sense. i've come to realize that feeling comfortable in one's own skin is a rare and precious thing.

(midnight gyan time) it's called "emancipation." jorge luis borges recalled his youthful years in one memoir and regretted the fact that he was very shy as a young man (he became fully blind only later). a famous brit. author had the same thing to say about his youth; i forget his name -- could have been naipaul. i have a similar thing to say about my youth (though i am not in the league of those greats). though not perceptibly shy to others, i was very shy from the inside -- meaning i could fake that i was enjoying their company at the cost of much torture to myself. but now i enjoy others' company even when i am faking it!

It doesn't matter. What the rule says is that you can only designate zeroes as 0's and not as 0s. And when you use another number or letter in conjunction with it in a sentence, the other also gets an apostrophe. Excerpt from the link I posted earlier:

Ted couldn't distinguish between his 6's and 0's.
You need to use the apostrophe to indicate the plural of zero or it will look like the word Os. To be consistent within a sentence, you would also use the apostrophe to indicate the plural of 6's.

Now let us go back to what I said: "Since the number zero looks like the letter O, be careful when you type 0's and O's." Although Os is a word as you pointed out, you cannot use Os without an apostrophe when 0's is used in conjunction. At least that's the way I see it. No big deal, really.

After hyphens and apostrophes, if the next one on the list involves colons, I suggest we punt that one over to a friendly proctologist.
