OKiee...enough of this Tracy-style "fasting from home" business. Cadlelight vigils at Harvard and MIT are a timepass on a weekly basis on some issue.Seva Lamberdar wrote:http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Harvard-MIT-students-start-365-day-relay-fast-to-focus-on-Bhopal-survivors/articleshow/26916872.cms

Bhopal happened 25 yrs ago - with fewer living day by day - and even the frikkin company is no more in its original form. Elections have come and gone in MP, and settlements ($470 million) signed by the Central Govt 10 years ago...
The organizers of this Tamasha can add a line or two to their resume.

In any case, the "tamasha" keeps the Bhopal issue fresh in the minds of people.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:OKiee...enough of this Tracy-style "fasting from home" business. Did Union Carbide own 100 percent of that facility? Were there Indian shareholders? Which regulatory agency of the old socialistic India authorized a plant handling highly toxic chemicals to be built and operated in a densely populated area? Have these Indian executives and bureaucrats been held accountable for the disaster? Do the Harvard-MIT students want only foreign blood?

Interesting questions Swapna. Anyway, whatever did Union Carbide do in India or happened in India because of Union Carbide, it was / is really the responsibility of Indian Govt. to make sure that there is adequate relief from that company for its citizens affected because of the accident.swapna wrote:Did Union Carbide own 100 percent of that facility?
