of chewing on a super strong minty chewing gum and then drinking super cold water over it... and then opening your mouth and sticking your tongue out until the pain subsides.

... why would one go through that on a daily basis?

Trace, i do feel your pain-trust me. most brand chewing gums kind of sores up the tongue and it seems to me its the aspartame that makes it bad i am not sure. but what brand of gum that you would recommend which does the minimum desensitization that lasts for a very short time so your taste is least affected. TIA
