a thevArappAdal dating to the 7th century by sundarar about the thillaiAndavar (thillai is another name in tamil for chidambaram)

half-baked knowledge based on recent political events completely ignores the deep connection between tamil saints and the chidambaram temple.

nobody is stopping anyone from singing songs in praise of the deity(ies) in the nataraja temple at chidambaram in hindi or tamil or some other language. it is just that in the sanctum sanctorum of this temple one can only say the temple prayers in sanskrit. This is the rule which has been established the custodians of this temple for several centuries--the Dikshitar brahmins.

AFAIK there is no liturgy or poetry dating back to the seventh century in hindi about the chidambaram temple. was hindi even a language in the 7th century?

i am not an expert on hindi literature. The earliest hindi poet i personally know of whose writings in hindi are available to us was Amir Khusrau. He was around in the 13th century AD. I do not know about Khusrau's literary predecessors but surely if Khusrau was writing in hindi in 13th century, then hindi must have preceded him.
