In my home town in India the tribal people love those long fly-like insects that swarm the street lights (in Telugu they are called "eesuLLu"). These insects live for an all but an hour or so and they die by the thousands near the lamp posts. They are like the smaller size cicadas. The tribal kids sweep them by basket fulls and saute them in a pan adding a dash of salt and pepper when they kind of feel crisp/crunchy. Nice snack.
