Beginning the segment 2:50, you will see the Mechanical Engineering professor demonstrate how a guitar works.

I always wondered why someone places his or her hands on various parts of the strings while playing a veena or a guitar.

this is not a difficult q. but rishi more generally i envy you your time. so much of my own time is spent chasing money to keep my little enterprise afloat.
