Who invented pizza?

Is there anyway we Indians can stake a claim in the invention of pizza? We could say that in ancient times, Indians used to make thick naan and top it with leftover meat pieces and leave it in the tandoor overnight. Next morning, it used to become something called "Pai-ja"...or something phonetically similar to "pizza"..

Give me something! Please let me know your thoughts on how to convince somebody that Pizza was originally invented in India.

why, this is nothing new. we have had uttapam since time immemorial. an onion-tomato-capsicum uttapam is nothing new. we got tired of calling it uttapam. finally it got truncated to pam (uttapama in sanskrit) + pyaz (pyaza in sanskrit) = pyazza. pyaz gives pizza the taste -- it is orphaned without it.

Uttappam is good...very good in fact. But I can't jump from uttappam to pizza....it's not convincing.

the pizza was invented in india 'cos when indians made it, they noticed that it resembled a naya paisa and so they named it paisa. how did you get into such an unwinnable argument? Shocked

precisely. i had an inkling that it was venkat and ponnamma who invented it.
