He was Laloo's guru. He taught Laloo that a good night's "sleep" is essential for good health!

According to Ayyangar, there was no such thing as a high caste or a low caste but only a higher state of consciousness and a lower state of consciousness, neither of which had anything to do with birth. He was convinced that the denial of the right of worship to anyone on the basis of his birth was an offence against divinity itself. It was this belief that motivated him to support the claim of the Dalits for entry into the Hindu temples. He was an MP from Tirupati and also served as Speaker of Lok Sabha and governor of Bihar. His brother's son was Chairman of the Decision Sciences Dept. at RPI in upstate NY (He has retired since).

Like Rishi wrote, his social outlook was admirable. Those days, many were proud to follow Gandhi's lead in helping dalits. My own family was involved in integrating dalits into the mainstream school. I attribute the outlook of that generation to their pride in their culture (I suppose sikular SuCh schloars find this difficult to believe).
