A Kerala leader thought that freedom of speech is guaranteed and said that Pappu is a "joker". He found out that the only guarantee is that he will be sacked.

what about Jaswant Singh? While the Kerala leader of Cong has been suspended for berating his own leader in public, Jaswant was *expelled* from BJP for writing a book. Freedom of speech--BJP style?

Jaswant apparently went to Advani and prostrated on his feet asking that his son be given some plum post. Advani hugged him and said, "all my clout has vanished in the Modi tsunami". Then Advani and Jaswant cried together using Jagan's odarpu technique.

To answer your question, Jaswant decided to contest as an independent candidate against the official BJP candidate and was defeated in the battlefield. He wasn't stopped by BJP from contesting. He was shafted by the voters. BJP just said to him that he is removed from the party. They allowed the guy to commit hara kiri. They even gave him the Japanese sword.

This is the second time Jaswant has been expelled from the BJP. The first time Jaswant was expelled from BJP was in 2009 just days after his book on Jinnah was published:
