Ebola
...Perhaps not as exciting as Wars in the middle east, russia, or Wall street news. But, it can take more lives and drive the market down much more...
Two US Ebolans are being brought to US with at least one to be treated at/by CDC-Emory (this is yesterday's news). Looks like CDC will use them as guinea pigs to harvest the virus for vaccine and treatment/control.
It could be the modern Plague or small pox, only worse due to modern connectivity. I bet soon everyone will be afraid to sit next to a any black - much like the early ears of HIV. Wait till this thing shows up in a NON-western capital, where facilities and enforcement of guidelines are lax.

Re: Ebola
Can you imagine what happens if it shows up in India! With the population and its density it's going to cause havoc. And lot of Africans do travel to India, as students, "businessmen," tourists etc.

Not to mention the fatalistic attitude and carelessness, not to mention the lethargy of organizations.
I did not want to be specific. With PLENTY of Indians and Chinese in African countries (it their target for the last decade), Ebola spreading to India or China is a disaster waiting to happen. It will be easier for the Governments to hide and hush it up under the carpet than tackle it.
Why aren't the FAA and the European authorities banning ALL flights out of those countries in Africa until further notice? Everyone thinks he/she is clean and does not have any disease until it shows up - like HIV.

Re: Ebola
....In Liberia's capital Monrovia, the bodies of two possible Ebola victims lay in the street for four days before being removed by local health workers. The two people died in the street when nobody would take them to hospital. Monrovia's overcrowded and understaffed Elwa Hospital has had to turn away Ebola cases this week, a scenario exacerbated by the withdrawal of some international staff following the infection of two US health workers. Improper burial sites have also caused concern for local residents, with corpses left floating in body bags in pools of water at one site in Monrovia.
Shouldn't they be cremating the bodies?
P.S. Emirates has suspended its operations to Guinea.

Re: Ebola
......experiemental Ebola antibodies saved the two US workers...
Within an hour of receiving the medication, Brantly's condition dramatically improved. He began breathing easier; the rash over his trunk faded away. One of his doctors described the events as "miraculous."
By the next morning, Brantly was able to take a shower on his own before getting on a specially designed Gulfstream air ambulance jet to be evacuated to the United States.
