I am wondering if I should close some mutual funds - but things are already way down and not much use. So I am just holding out, content with what I did with some of my retirement money. At least I moved some 50% of it out of stocks and bonds at 12600.

Wait... the Dow is down to 10900 - my prediction 10 days ago. Shytt...

I am suspecting Dow will go down below 10000 by Wed before going up with a vengence after lunch. That is assuming QE3 is more than the Looter's expectations.

All your stocks are now officially long term investments. There is more to life than money. Tell that to your wife and pray that she buys that argument.

right there with you. daughter said she won't fund my retirement. I said good you told me now, coz now I won't fund your college. So she is in a truce mode right now. Says she'll cook for me, feed me and do my hair, but sonny will need to take care of picking me up, sleeping with me to turn me in the night, and handle the bathroom and dressing issues. (She saw my FIL take full care of his mother, that's where this is coming from)

Thinking like a true marwari: well too bad, my daughter is older than my son. So while I might need to prep for a hefty dowry for her, what if my son goes for a love marriage with a non-marwari and I get nothing. Worse, what if *I* have to fund everything for the new DIL to show off to the community? Full and total loss man. Full and total loss.

yeah, but in comparison, senseks has shown some resilience (congrats senseks!) from the morning's low and is down only 1.3%. time to offload some of my stock that is making marginal losses or just about breaking even. all those funds will now go in a shoe box where i expect them to give better returns than anything else. am not entering gold ETFs just yet. confession time : i have a very weak pair of hands.
