I urgently need information about visitors health insurance. My post requesting help yesterday did not get any help. I know some of you have useful information. Please help. Read my yesterday's post for my question

I will find out soon. Had to call 911 and take a desi from desh guest to ER recently. I think the insurance they used was Oriental.

I hear radio Ads for visitorscoveragedotcom and MCIS multi choice insurance.

All of them have to be more or less alike. Call them both n see who you like more.

I used Atlas America that claims to cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Fortunately, didn't have to go for any claims thus far.

Not sure. Bills have begun pouring in. The hospital people were given insurance info, but not sure how much was covered by the insurance yet as my address is not on the insurance. $2000 for ambulance, aiyo! (Should have just made them get out of the bed and sit in my car). Anyway, passed on the info to the peeps and they will provide them insurance info, etc. Let's see how that goes.

Repeat info x n:

All and any insurance for visitors are of VERY LIMITED value.

1. Most will not cover pre-existing conditions (most Desis have BP and Diabetes, which can be linked to everything and benefits denied)

2. Indian insurance - you will have to pay the bills and then file for reimbursment with your Indian insurance (say Oriental). Hospitals in US wont do that for you.

3. I am yet to see a good, honest visitor insurance program. Check NY and Cali BCBS have any health insurance program for non-US residents. Many BCBS have a program for > 65 (but restricted to green card and US citizens).

I know a guy whose dad had a massive heart attack n he owed some 100k (?) to the hospital. Thet settled for 30k.

No matter which insurance you buy. They will only pay you so much.

Did he have another heart attack looking at the bill ?

I know someone's father who was in hospital for chest pain. They ran this and that test, and after 4 days told the guy that he should take his father back to India ASAP, as he will need major procedures costing him his own retirement funds. That was what he did after his dad was discharged.
