he was on NPR this morning. his main points:

-- the ISIS or the IS as they are calling themselves now are at most about 20,000 strong. the iraqi army is 250,000 and the pesh merga about 100,000. they should be doing more a lot more. if they won't protect their own interests, why should the US?

-- we should just draw a circle around them and let them be in that circle and do what they wish inside there. whenever they get to the outer fringes of the circle drive them back in there by bombing, working with other folks etc. but otherwise don't interfere no matter what.
