Aug 15 speech by modi - what do you think of it?
Zero defects
come make in india
call to neighbors to join the fight against poverty
toilets in all schools
Talk to your sons
and
Jan dhan yojana
Simple , time bound, with in reach, implementable policies.
Results are easily measurable.
Is modi on right track?
Modi's low key style management surprised most people. These simple policies seem to be in line with his simple ways.
So far I have not seen any wrong moves. If his govt is sincere in executing these difficult tasks, India will be back on growth track.

Rash
Vinod mehta is a hired gun and he is a tired old man with outdated and defeated ideas.
I am more interested what you think of it as an individual?

"When he was seeking votes, Modi told Indians that their problems all lay in government, and that it was merely a change of political parties that would transform India. He told us that he would solve the big issues once he came to power because it required the talent and hard work of one man — him. In his August 15 speech, Modi said, correctly in my opinion, that many of India’s problems lay not in government, but in society. "

>>>I read the article and am puzzled by a couple of things. Why is this article in a Pakistani newspaper? Secondly, the statement below is baffling:
"However, its leaders add that the reason for South Asia’s poverty is the conflict between India and Pakistan. If this conflict ends, the countries can reduce defence spending and focus on development"
The 'it' above refers to Pakistan. Given Pakistan's obsession with India and the money spent on arming itself and the proxy wars it conducts, this is partially true, but the lion's share of Pakistan's lack of development is due to deeper causes: lack of stable governance and a schizophrenic world view that does not engender confidence in entrepreneurs. In any event, no one is stopping Pakistan from ending this India-related paranoia.
The other part Patel seems to acknowledge as a left-handed compliment to Modi is his pronouncement that cannot solve all the nation's problems. This is self-evident and other than socialists/communists, I am not sure who seriously harbors this fantasy.

CD
This tribune guy is writing what he thought Modi said.
Modi said that UPA govt did not do its job and became a problem for the nation.
In any case the question on this thread is not about what modi was doing but what do you think of his aug 15th speech.
Do you have an opinion of yourself to share with us?

No one was holding gun to Modiji's head when said the things he said. It was pure self-hype; peku created high expectations for himself with his usual BS. Now crying foul won't help much.Kris wrote:confuzzled dude wrote:"When he was seeking votes, Modi told Indians that their problems all lay in government, and that it was merely a change of political parties that would transform India. Dont be a rush or rash. Both are idiots... You are expecting ideal, honest, superman PM who could accomplish on day 1. But you dont/didnot even wince at the myriad layers of corruption and looting that went on in Ma-Bheta-Peon govt.
Face it.. Both sides promised everything and acted holier than the other. That is the nature of politics. By the same token, treat both parties the same way giving enough rope.
Otherwise, just admit you are an A-hole, and nothing matters when it comes to Modi and be like Rash and Rush.... We will then appreciate your honesty...

Only thing your man did was to put Hindi imposition on high gear.
I do not see any difference between Modi and Manmohan.

I'm afraid you got it completely backwards, Modiji is the one with big hammer in his hand seeing nails everywhere. Perhaps you're being utterly naive reading too much into his speech which nothing but empty rhetoric and proliferation of empty verbiage.truthbetold wrote:CD/KV

Your usage of perhaps shows you do not know if modi is going to be successful or not. You can repeat in a continuous loop that modi failed but no one will pay attention to you. The truth is it will take time to know the results.
People will wait for a reasonable amount of time before making those judgements.
However you can express yourself on modi's speech as you finally did in your post above.
