Understanding LOVE!
Age old Q - What is love?
Attempt to make 2 definitions:
1. Love in general including your pet, kids, parents, friends, plants.
2. Love specific to your partner.
Try to define it in 20 words or less, for each.
I shall provide mine, as well. But I hope it reveals to you, about your own self.
Thanks in advance,
TS.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
love is the thing that compelled you to be a chupinder while abusing maya's dad on chat. it's the thing that makes you want to pen poems to billo, sillo, and uff yes phullo too. or maybe love is just two dollar hooch.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
One, two, three, four, five
Everybody in the car, so come on let's ride
To the liquor store around the corner
The boys say they want some gin and juice
But I really don't wanna
Beer bust, like I had last week
I must stay deep, 'cause talk is cheap
I like Phullo, Billo, Sillo and Dillo
And as I continue you know they're getting sweeter
So what can I do? I really beg you, my Lord
To me abusing is just like a sport
Anything fly, it's all good let me dump it
Please set in the trumpet
A little bit of Phullo in my life
A little bit of Billo by my side
A little bit of Sillo is all I need
A little bit of Dillo is what I see
A little bit of hooch-o in the sun
A little bit of Queer Bee all night long
A little bit of philosophee makes me your man
sung to the tune of:

2. Love specific to your partner.
Love to me is, when you are with someone even when nothing outwardly in the world is binding you. There is no 'reason' except that love itself.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
@Kiddo -
Hmm. Someone attempted.
1. Ask a kid-less pet owner, or a genuine gardener by profession - Yes, Kids, plants, and pets fall in the same category when it comes to love. Depends on who all one has. Personally, I have never gotten over our pet dog, who died when I was a teen. Painful.
2. On your definition of love - love without any "outside reason" - for the sake of it, eh?
Thanks for sharing it,
TS.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
Here's a nice quote for you on love, TS:
"Love is not a relationship, love is a state of being; it has nothing to do with anybody else. One is not "in love", one is love. And of course when one is love, one is in love – but that is an outcome, a by-product, that is not the source. The source is that one is love.”

Re: Understanding LOVE!
Hmm. The way I read it - When "Lover" becomes "Love".
Nearly impossible.
Love is a quality, while a lover, a human.
Sugar can never "become" sweetness (quality), It can only "contain" it. Because if sugar becomes sweetness what will happen to other things containing it?
A human or anyone or anything becoming the "quality" itself is a bit tricky to even imagine.
Just like once someone tried to explain to me - God is an ocean, and your true self is a droplet of that ocean. What difference in quality do you have?
Anyways, thanks for sharing the quote.
Regards,
TS.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
Yes. I can. Can You separate "love" from a "human" ?
Yes, You can.
If not, there wont be "any" rapists, or cold blooded murderers. No ISIS in Iraq, no Nirbhaya case, and no victims in Hiroshima.
Sugar is in a far better state than a "human", because it does not speak, opine, or even have any religion or caste.
But even with this, sugar *alone is not* sweetness.
Its not an argument between humans and sugar. Sugar is way ahead :-) But the analogy was to bring out the fact that containee is not same as container.

coz u love being with that person. not coz it's a good arrangement, or u have kids to worry about, or anything else. you are with him/her just coz you can't see it any other way. something like that.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
I see. But how can this love be influenced by outside factors? If it can be, then don't you think its not "absolute", but only "relative", hence temporary?
There are 2 ways to look at it:
1. Love not impacted by anything external
2. Love, only lasting, till internal
G'nite,

there will be outside factors, but blending in, not restricting.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
Btw water is not water if it's not wet and sugar is one sugar if it's not sweet. So yes, gun( Hindi wala)/ quality makes you who you are.
Love is the underlying factor (or sth) in all beings. So TS, you cannot separate love from humans. Love is life. Literally.
Think of love as the ocean n everything else as a drop of water. We can do all the matakna n this n that. But we are never outside the ocean.
HTH,

"So TS, you cannot separate love from humans. Love is life. Literally."
Ok. Please read my original post, and explain this:
What is more important -
1. Love of Duty (think soldier), or
2. Love of family (spouse/kids/parents)
What comes first?
I ask you, beyond pets and plants, because I hoped that someone will escalate me to this perennial dilemma.
Thanks 7,
TS.

Re: Understanding LOVE!
20 words or less.
Love is a four letter word. Thank you for giving the 'or less' option.
Good thing I paid attention. I was thinking something like L1234O5678V91123456E where numbers are silent type of definition.
