I didn't watch it. But it is possible that Modi is preparing for a cabinet sans Rajnath and Sushma by 2016/17 and laying the necessary foundations now.

no chance of that happening. Rajnath is an RSS man. He has been a swayamsevak. Further, RSS is obliged to Rajnath for getting rid of Advani at their instruction. He must have agreed to do the RSS's bidding only on condition that after Advani was eased out they would protect him against the Modi-Jaitley combine. He has seen what Modi did in Gujarat to other BJP leaders in Gujarat and would have foreseen that the same could be done to him.
The real rulers of the BJP are not the Modi-Jaitley combine; the real rulers are the RSS.

Sushma Swaraj is a different story. Not having had an RSS background is a disadvantage for her and in that sense she is a soft target for Modi (should he ever want to ease her out) . But she is known to be close to Rajnath (besides also being close to Advani). Her best bet is to throw in her lot with Rajnath and get him to protect her.

And this is exactly what Modi intends changing. Not easy but if there are 'guaranteed' ways he can come back as PM the next term without the support of RSS, Modi would embrace that. Unlike MMS, Modi is not comfortable kowtowing to the diktats of a HiC.

if he tries to do this he will be given the boot just like Balraj Madhok was treated by RSS. i think he is smart enough to realize this.
